District 230 organized a Snowball retreat this year at YMCA Camp Duncan in Volvo, IL. If you don't know what Snowball is you can read up on it on their official site here: http://www.os-cgti.org/, but the main just to understand is that it is a prevention program focused on leadership development in order to empower youth to lead drug-free lives. I know, at first this sounds like something that is very boring and dull, I get that... I thought the same thing. But really, when you get to experience the whole event it is more about building a network and friendships that are going to help you get through life and for you to have people in your life that you can build relationships and connections with. I was lucky enough to be on Teen Staff and I have to say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Sure, was it a lot of responsibility, yes. But I have to say that it was more of connecting with such amazing and great people and preparing myself and the people around me to be the leaders of tomorrow. I added some images down below so you can see some of the things we did and the people that were in the event, but I have to say that this is something that is really ineffable, meaning that it can not be described in words. This is something that you need to experience. I want to go more in-depth about the whole event and I surely will in the future, but for now, I just wanted to say thank you to District 230 for hosting the event and I wanted to add it to my portfolio mainly because it helped shape me into who I am today!
